Scope:
This course is intended to provide shipboard personnel with detailed knowledge in shipboard waste management and marine pollution prevention.
Objective:
After successful completion of the course the trainees should be able to:
- Explain the polices and regulations concerning the prevention of pollution by oil, sewage and garbage
- Understand the different international environmental policies and regulations enforced in various ports
- Explain the laws and principles concerning the properties of waste generated onboard
- Understand the flow and the corresponding waste treatment of shipboard wastes
- Understand the principle of operation of various waste handling equipment
- Know how to keep a record of waste discharge operations
