Scope:

This course is intended to provide shipboard personnel with detailed knowledge in shipboard waste management and marine pollution prevention.

Objective:

After successful completion of the course the trainees should be able to:

  • Explain the polices and regulations concerning the prevention of pollution by oil, sewage and garbage
  • Understand the different international environmental policies and regulations enforced in various ports
  • Explain the laws and principles concerning the properties of waste generated onboard
  • Understand the flow and the corresponding waste treatment of shipboard wastes
  • Understand the principle of operation of various waste handling equipment
  • Know how to keep a record of waste discharge operations
