Scope:

This course has been designed to meet the requirements of regulation A-III/1&2 of the STCW convention and section B-III/1 of the STCW Code for the function Electrical at the operational level and is based on the guidelines of IMO Model Course 7.04.
Course is designed for those who are currently engineers.

Objective:

The course covers the relevant aspects of electrical technology knowledge for operational level engineers. In addition to theory lectures, the participant is exposed to substantial practical training including wiring of starters/motors.

  • Electrical Power Plant – EPP
  • Electrical network and consumers
  • Circuit breakers
  • Insulation monitoring
  • Diesel generator, emergency generator
  • Boiler firing control and safe guards
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Calibration of alarm systems
  • Electric PD controls, distributor power module
  • Motors and motor starters
  • Engine room instrumentation, alarms and logging
  • Hazardous area electrical equipment
